Programming a BMV correctly

I have spent the better part of a month studying the Victron BMV 712 and how it functions.
There have been many people whom have experienced the “drift” in SOC reporting these little guys have over time and in a few cases there have been reports of large shifts in the SOC in a single day.
I believe I have determined the cause of these problems and come up with some settings that will improve the reliability of the BMV’s reporting.
This is especially important if you have a Larger capacity battery bank and charge via MPPT/Solar for extended periods of time.
Here is a 15min video laying out each setting with extreme detail.
Watching this video will hopefully help you understand what each setting means and better understand how your BMV works

This is timely information. I would also "suggest" that you create an additional post that shows 3 table sets. Lead Acid, AGM, Lithium. Granted the Battery Capacity of each bank will vary, but the other details may be more useful to those that are looking over the internet to determine what is "best".

I know I did that and used the AM Solar profile for my 200AH AGM factory solar setup. Most people are looking for "where do I start"....and even as well as the video defines great info, people will still be looking for "what values should I start with".

The other thought I had is that not everyone has the temperature sensor, I had to buy mine additionally, it isn't the default when you buy the "kit" from say...amazon...it's an option adder.

Just a thought....and a very informative video.

I do have a BMV question about this unit, but off topic to this post...Will PM you.

Great video, your explanations on the settings help clarify what's going on with the system.

Thanks for this Ronnie!

One question. I'm using a Cerbo GX and Lynx shunt. I don't see the "battery starts synchronized" option using the remote console (I don't have the GX Touch 50). Is that option not relevant to the Lynx shunt or am I missing something?

Correct, I do not think that option affects the Lynx shunt.
