Pre-Wire for AC unit
I have a 1972 Streamline I gutted.

While I will not be installing an AC unit initially, I need to pre-wire for one. Shall I use 12-2 romex or something else?

Your wire choice is spot on! Hook it up to a 20amp breaker and it's good to go!
