Plug replacement question
Over the weekend the plug on the shore power cord got hot. I had to replace it with what I could find at Lowes. Is there a special type that I should have used? Is there a special plug for outdoor use? My repair is working fine, but I want to make sure it is right. Thanks.

Rodney-
Don't you have a screw in type for weather protection with a sealed male plug? Was it the plug that was getting hot or the wire also?

It has that where it connects to the trailer; the lowes plug (male) is a screw together unit. Can't say I'm comfortable with it. The box called it an RV plug but......

that repair will work fine for a while.
when you want to make it perm. just go get an rv extension cord and cut off the female end and wire into your breaker box.
if you purchase one from from a airstream dealer be aware there are canadian spec. cords that are availble and about 5 feet longer. easy upgrade if you want a longer cord.

This is the kind of thing that keeps a guy up at night. I had previously contemplated updating all of the wiring to the converter anyway, maybe this is the time to give that project a fuller consideration.

It's a 30 AMP RV plug. That what I have on mine. It got hot and I replaced mine. Sealed would be best. I keep mine out of the weather..

it is not that those replacement plugs are bad, they are brittle and will break if you toss it around or drop it.

I just purchased a 1976 31' sovereign. I'm whipping it into shape, but I'm trying to find a solution to an electrical problem. Half my outlets work, but the center bath, 2 outlets in the rear bedroom, and the exterior outlet are all dead. Anyone know of a wiring diagram for this model?
