PE 2 display on Progressive Industries surge protector

I have connected our 30 amp Airstream to household connection. There is no E error code but a PE2 code for ground fault is displayed. I'm only running minimal electrical like charging battery and propane detector. It's showing that it's charging and up to 12.77 volts. Is this ground fault a dangerous thing?

I think it's telling you the Airstream is not properly grounded...need to figure out actual cause--it could make the skin of the trailer electrically hot and hazardous to life...in the extreme

Need to check condition of the outlet you are plugged into with a circuit checker to determine that the ground (U-shaped hole in outlet) is actually grounded properly. If you are not sure exactly how to do this, get an electrician to check and fix it properly.

PE means Previous Error (assuming you have a Progress Industries EMS). If the fault still existed the fault would be displayed E2. Therefore, the fault that the system sensed has been corrected. The display is letting you know something happened, but the system is safe now. To delete this code, just turn the power off, then back on, at the breaker (or switch) prior to the household connection.

Did you test the ground fault receptacle in the trailer.
Did you plug into the household outlet while the plug was hot? (should be turned off) It is possible one or two blades contacted slightly prior to the others, creating a false code.

create a new adapter with std 115V 15A female =socket to a 30 A male connection
then plug in the ac power tester in the female side
this will test you outlet to see if its good.

if its good and the Progressive Industries surge protector still gives an error
  • its either a bad cable or
  • miswired at he Progressive Industries surge protector
