New satellite!
This used to be my Flag pole, made from a chain link post. But now that I've got the dish, it fits great and the saddle clamps are from a dog kennel kit.

I was starting to give some thought to removing the antena mount off the Trade Wind, however, this idea gave me pause. Does anybody know how well attached those things are? Could a strong wind catching the dish damage the coach?

I like the “65 overlander” flag pole mount- -very neat and clever. I’m thinking of mounting a satellite antenna this spring after I buy a flat screen TV. But sometimes the trailer is parked under the trees or in a location where that trailer-mounted antenna’s position can’t be oriented properly. In those situations perhaps a portable tripod with a long coax cable would be needed. I won’t know for sure, until I try it. Has anyone found that a portable tripod is real necessary back-up?

We were in Savannah and a fellow came in with a high end SOB with the then at the time new dome on the roof to track satellites. He proceeded to set up a tri-pod and wire it up. I couldn't help myself, I had to act stupid and ask why with the dome he was setting up a tripod. He smiled and pointed up at the tree he was parked under. He said, " I wanted to park in the shade".
I carry a unit that I bought on-line that is a plastic water can with a mount built in for a dish. You fill it with water for weight and set it up in the open. I also carry 50 ft. of cable. Works great. I still need to upgrade to dual feed horns yet, but I do have the flat screen tv. SWEET!!

Tv Dish
Jim, Great idea. I too have a dish on top of my AS 370LE MH. The TV system gives me more trouble that anything
else on my coach.
Have a great day,

New satellite!
What I did was take 100' of RG-6 coax, and used a electric cord holder, and depending whether Im parked in a clearing, or else all I have to do is unroll the coax to an opening and place the dish on a shoter tripod I once again built out of chainlink posts. The posts are gavenized, and have alot of brackets to make a tripod ,whitch only takes about 10-15 minutes to put together. Then I take a auger type anchor(for dogs) and screw into ground, Place tripod over anchor, and use a small motorcycle tie down strap and secure the tripod to ground. The winds got around 35mph gusts, with no problem! I've got the trailer back into storage now but I'll take some step by step photos of the tripod Jeff

Jeff, I would like to see your step-by-step photos of your tripod project. Its fun to build and improvise stuff. Some of us were meant to build and work projects, that’s another half of the fun of getting wherever were going.
