New Owner of Nest with Power Problems

We just picked up our Nest. It was shipped to Alaska for us so we are without a dealer for back up. We have had problems with our batteries. We have replaced the original ones with new Group 24 Deep Cycle 12 Volt Batteries from Interstate. The news ones loose their charge after running only our refrigerator for 12 hours. When we plug into shore power at our house to recharge the batteries and provide power to the trailer we hear a clicking sound at about 15 second intervals. It seems to be the converter box cycling on and off. Could anyone help us with this problem? Could you also tell us if the batteries charge if we have battery disconnect off? Thanks so much. Looking forward to any advice.
