My AGM suddenly died
I have a 200 amp hour 41B Universal AGM battery that seems to have abruptly died. With regular wet batteries they seem to die slowly. It was working a couple of weeks ago but now it won't take any charge either with my inverter or a auto battery charger on deep cycle. I have disconnected the battery from the circuit. I probably have at least 5 years on it so I'm not complaining, just surprised at the suddenness. Is this anybody else's experience?
I have a 45 amp Intellipower inverter.
I got the battery from a guy who was recommended a lot in the forums, but forgot his name. Can someone help me?
I may get a Lifeline replacement or go wet cell with a sealed battery box.
Thanks

Not familiar with the number '41B', AGM...must be some Mfg's particular designation...Perhaps in view of the 200 Amp Hr mentioned, you have a '4D' battery - about 19 inches long x 8-3/4 inches wide, with both terminals at one end?
Is your old battery noticeably bulged out at the ends and sides? If so, the sulfate has built up the the point that the plates have been damaged - OR - you've got an example of extended overcharge condition, where the voltage has been elevated over time, etc...
Five years is probably about average life for RV batteries where storage/use cycles vary so much...However with proper 'care and feeding', an AGM with the proper charging equipment can last much longer...
If you wish to buy another AGM, I'd suggest you look for a Battery Specialist Shop in your nearest large city and get a quote...AGM's being heavy, the shipping costs can be a big factor if you're ordering from several States away!

We had an Optima Blue Top die, like you had turned off a light switch. It probably developed an internal short in one of the cells. Ours had the voltage drop from 13.5v to 10.5v, which is pretty much useless. It was four years old.

The Optima Red Top in my TV did the same thing...4 years old, and just quit.

In my case the voltage has dropped pretty much to zero. Can't find my multimeter, but with my 12v test light when the charger is on I get a light across the terminals. Soon as the charging current going into the battery is turned off no light.
