Hi
A 55A converter puts out 10A more than a 45A converter. It puts it out at about 13.4V so that is roughly 134W. If it's 80% efficient that would be 167W input. It will only do that at full load. If you are not *pulling* the extra 10A on the output, the extra 167W will not go into the device. Worst case, you have < 1.5A of "extra" current on your 30A service.
As one quickly learns, not all breakers on posts are created equal. This "30A" device may only trip at 45A, that one may trip at 31A. If you are within 1.5A on your 30A service, expect some odd things to happen.

Hello— My mind just exploded after reading this thread. I was hoping to find a solution to my problem put it has not surfaced.
I'm installing a PD4655 replacing a WFCO 8955. The problem I'm having is that the new DC board is missing a wire post that my old board has. My old board has 5 wire posts where the new board only has 4. The difference is that I have an extra positive wire coming into the box that I don't know what to do with on the new board.
Thanks,
Jim

Most all here have been in the dark...A few detailed photo's would help turn on the lights.
Is that wire AC or DC?

Hi
Simple answer is to buy an add on gizmo to give you some more connection points.

we replace the stock with Lion battle born batteries and many victron parts
get the multipus 3000 converter/inverter
i post my AC/DC schematic elsewhere. but here is the DC side deployment
The multiplus is the wide blue box on the left side
it can be controlled from the web, your phone or the mutiplus colour display shown in grey to the right of the battery

Hi
Ummm .... errrr ....
The Victron hybrid inverter chargers ( the Multi Plus units) do not come stock with web control capabilities. They can be run quite nicely with no connectivity at all ( = manual operation). If you want a web interface for them you need to add more "stuff" to the system.

Hi Jim,
I think this is you that emailed us yesterday. If you purchased the 4655 MBA Wildkat to replace the stock 8955, it doesn't even come with a new fuse board because you don't need it. Nor does it come with the metal frame that is also not needed.
The 4655V and newer 4655VL models do come with the fuse board and metal case and if you DO replace the fuse board, it makes it hard to reach the mode button to interact with the Charge Wizard. Nearly impossible because of the design of the panel on the 8955.
That is why had the 4655L Wildkat made specifically for the 8955. It does not have the fuse board or metal frame that are not needed but DOES come with the modified remote pendant so you can still interact with the Charge Wizard the same as if you installed the fuse board.
I think you probably purchased the 4655VL that is made for the Parallax 7355 and 8355. It will still work but you need to remove the converter from the frame and purchase the remote separate.
Geez I know this is confusing but be glad to explain in different words if anybody need me to. Bottom line, if you have the parallax 7355 or 8355, you need the 4655VL (Remote available separate if desired) If you have the new WFCO 8955 PEC, you need the 4655L MBA (Remote included)

Hi
Mine shows up the same way. If I unplug the Venus it goes away. Stuff like the BMV-712 have connectivity built in. The Multi Plus very much does not.

Hi
Ok, so here is a *perfect* example of why you very much want to be able to call somebody for help when you are installing one of these gizmos. Email and forums only get you just so far ..... Randy *loves* to answer the phone at weird hours of the evening ....

Thanks, Bob. It's a DC wire, I think. Randy from BestConverter has cleared this up for me. Randy is something else. I'm in California and he is in Alabama and he was emailing me late into the night helping me figure this out. It's all good!

Haha Bob is that you calling and leaving me messages at 3 in the morning about time shares in Cancun?
I do transfer the toll free to my cell in the evenings and weekends because inevitably somebody is installing something and when it doesn't go right, it's my fault

Randy,
I've got the 4655 installed and the remote wizard button is accessible, however not nearly as easy to get to as my prior trailer where you sold me a remote pendant.
Is it possible to bypass the onboard wizard and instead use a remote pendant like I had before?
