interior lites/LED bulbs

when I put in an 1156 LED replacement bulb in my interior wall lite of my 65 caravel , it didn't work. the old auto-type bulb worked in there,so.... how do you find out if it's a grounding issue if both wires disappear into the wall? and how would you fix it?? joe in MN

Sounds like a bad LED lamp to me, unless of course if the socket doesnt match the lamp base. Just guessing.

The polarity in the fitting could be reversed. Use a multimeter to test if the center pin in the socket is +12V relative to the outer shield. If it's -12V, reverse the wires to the fixture. LED bulbs generally require correct polarity in the socket although some have a rectifier built in so they can also be used on negative-ground circuits.

Without the multimeter you can just switch the wires to the fixture and see if it works.
