How to replace 30 amp marinco power port in 2004 Safari??
The cover on my 30 amp marinco power port in my 2004 Safari snapped off in transit. The small bump that catches the lid wore down, the lid started flapping. Next thing I knew, it was gone. So the plug inlet is sitting bare, open to the elements. I purchased a replacement. I was able to remove the exterior screws easily, and the marinco unit pulls away from the exterior body about 1/4". Not enough to access any of the screws in the back. And the wires do not feed enough through the hole. I have a rear bedroom queen, so i removed the bed and exposed the interior walls where the marinco power port is. Since this is a Safari, it has the fully lined wall panels. I can not figure out how to remove a wall panel. I dont want to damage anything there. I pulled off the molding between two of the panels, and no clues were divulged on how to get the panel off. I should just need to loosen the one lower wall panel in the back corner to get to the back of the marinco. The optimal word there is "should". Can anyone help me get this thing switched out? Thanks in advance. See pics...

Your AS is much older than mine but I recently changed out my 30 amp inlet and with some effort and wiggles I was able to pull it out several inches. Enough to loosen the clamp and slide the cover back exposing the screws for the wire connectors.
The might just be bunched up in the wall space. Good luck
So the issue with the old power port not coming out stemmed from the factory using ridiculous amounts of sealant to glue the rear "cup" into the wall. And with that strain relief clip in place from the back, I was unable to pull the power port out. I worked some more on pulling it out by hand, and was able to get another 1/4 inch or so. Just enough to get a screwdriver in there and unhook the electrical wires. Then I had to literally break that rear cup apart to get it out. Good thing I have a new one! Once i took the cup out, I was able to get a good length of wire exposed on the outside. So no need to rip open that interior wall after all. I got the new power port in there, but the screw holes are now a little stretched out. So i need to hit the hardware store tomorrow and get some bigger screws to allow them to catch and grip. The new port is in there, but it is not sitting tight against the outside of the trailer. I will update again tomorrow. But here is a pic of the open hole with the huge wad of sealant in there... that grey gunk all around the inside of the hole was literally gluing in the rear cup of the marinco power port. Yuck.

The new port is installed and finished. I had to get some fatter stainless screws because the metal got a bit stripped out. Otherwise it was a straight forward install once I got the old one out.
