I had some power out problems at my RV storage place. When I checked their plug with an ideal #61-500 line tester it was correct with the proper ground. But checking the plugs on the my 2008 Safari I found the ground was Hot, with Neutral reversed on every plug. This is potentially dangerous!

Has anyone run into this and what is the quick fix? Thanks!

Are you using an extension cord? It might be wired incorrectly.

man, I wouldn't think that would happen on a new(er) unit. But...first, check the ckt brkr box-white goes to the neutral bar, black goes into each brkr-and the bare (or green) grounding conductor goes to the eqpt grounding lug. If that is okay, then you need to correct the wiring at each outlet. And double check the appliances, too. facing an outlet, the grounding conductor goes to the bottom of the outlet; the neutral goes to the left side (the one with the longer slot) and the hot goes to the right. Most outlets (NEMA) have a gold colored screw for the hot, a silver one for the neutral, and a green one for the grounding conductor. Of course, be sure there is no energy within the entire electrical system before sticking your fingers anywhere. That includes, shore line, generator, inverter, solar.

I am using the Airstream power supply cable. So there is no chance of a misswired extension cord. I suspect the the wiring is backward at the main terminal feed. Thanks for the suggestions. Will keep you posted on the results.

I am using the Airstream power cord to connect to the shore power so there is no chance of an improperly wired extension cord.

I suspect the line feed from the shore power is wired the wrong way in the Airstream main feed.

Has anyone run into this and what is the quick fix? Thanks!

Did you check the same outlet you plugged into at the storage place? If so, then check the power cord. I read here that recently someone found an improperly wired cord.

Outlet at storage place is good. Power cord is the AIrstream shore cable. So it should be good!

Since all of the plugs in the trailer are wrong, I would suspect that the power cord connections inside the breaker box in the trailer may be wired wrong. At least that is where I would check next.

How long have you owned this trailer? Is this the first time you checked for this issue?

Just to eliminate the power cord. If you have a friend with another trailer try using there cord. If it goes away then there is the issue.

If this does not work then looking at the marineco hook up might be next. Maybe there is bleed thru on the cabel as well.

NEVER, NEVER, assume anything is correct if there is a problem within a system. Assumptions kill people, especially in my line of work.

Well, folks, as the rivet turns the Airstream supplied cord is wired wrong!!!! But they are shipping a new under warranty replacement! :-)

I took my Safari into North Dallas RV to upgrade my AC/Heat pump to a 15,000 BTU which Randy agreed to do on short notice. While he worked the AC swap his electrician checked out the system. Sure enough when they plugged the shop cord in the outlets tested correctly. The culprit was the Airstream supplied shore power cable. So a new one is on the way thanks to the factory. Case closed.

BTW, I bought the unit new from an Airstream dealer in 2008. I would have never checked the outlets had not the shore power failed. Folks may want to add this to their new/old rig checklist!

Hi, glad you found and fixed the problem. My trailer came with a little yellow polarity tester and it is the first thing we look at when we plug in our trailer at a campground.

Well folks AS came through today with a brand new shore power cord as a warranty replacement. Now that is terrific service response from the AS factory!
