Help w/ easy start

I installed the easy start on my 2018 25 Penguin 2 AC.

Today I hooked up my 3100 watt generator for the learning starts before heading out on a trip next week.

The first (and only) time I turned the AC on there was a godawful noise and vibration coming from the AC. I shut it off.

I just contacted micro air and am waiting for their response.

Anyone have any ideas, or does anyone know of an Easy Start expert in the Dallas Fort Worth area?

Thank you,

Did you pull the cover off of the outside AC unit to inspect it for a possible loose wire that got caught up in the fan or something else that might not have gotten put back in it’s proper place?

I would not run it anymore!!

Climb back up and look at your wiring again. I had so many problems installing the last one that I almost gave up. After staring at it forever and then walking away for a while, I came back and saw a problem with my wiring immediately. Yeah I know, its just three wires, but the color codes components can be confusing.

There are some good images of the wiring all in one picture that was helpful to me here on the forum.

OMG. My apologies to Easy Start! Just found a fist sized mud dobber "nest" on the inside of the "wrong" side of the blower. It was most likely the source of the noise and vibration.

It couldn't be in a worse place. It's going to be a bear to get out of there.

Thanks for all your help,

I think you are supposed to train it on shore power. If you have tried to train it on the generator you may have to go through a reset procedure before training it again.

AL is correct. You should start the AC five times on utility power before performing the generator start sequences.

Here is a link to the instructions for resetting/re-initializing the EastStart.

Me: “Can I use my 3100/2800 generator for the learning starts”?

Micro-Air: “Yes. If you have an economy mode, turn it off so it runs full speed.

Best regards,
Roger”

Interesting. That is not what they told me at Salem when I bought mine. My generator never came up in the discussion. Maybe if I had asked.....

Just had Easy Starts installed on both of my units while it was at JC. Can't get anyone to respond to an email to let me know if they performed the Relearning process. Is there a way I can determine whether or not they did it?

To be clear, is the relearn process what enables the Easy Start units to work? If the relearn is not performed will it be like not having the units at all and the AC's will work like they are not even installed?

Read the manual. The first few times you turn on the Easy Start it is in Learning Mode, then it evens out. They work great!
