One more thing, not sure who made the ignition switch but Ford had a run of bad ones in the 80's. metal would chafe in the switch and short causing fire. A friend of mine lost an 89 mustang that way. Turning a corner he noticed smoke from the steering column. By the time he pulled over there was fire in the dash. He had just enough time to pull his 2 meter radio gear out of the trunk before the interior was fully engaged in fire. Might want to stop and get a big cable cutter for the positive battery terminal cable and a fire extinguisher just in case.
Also, lots of electrical load went thru the "switch". Replaced one and new one ran HOT. Amp readings were high as electric brakes had been wired thru it. We replaced again and moved "load" off to a power relay capable of handling the load. Switch never failed again!!!

Thanks everyone! I am back in Michigan and recouping. Dali is at another 86 345 Classic airstream owner (RJ) in Carleton, MI. He's had his rig for over 10 years and was consulting whenever a problem arose.
He's looking over everything and comparing rigs. My "Ignition" definitely needs to be replaced.
