heat pads for water tanks

Hi,

We got 2016 FC23D a few weeks ago, and I feel like I've been learning a lot.

I came across this in a user manual for 2016 Flying Cloud models.

It is taken from the section, "Winter Traveling"

"The 20 ft. and 23 ft. (23 ft. Front Bed model excluded) models have 12-volt heat pads installed with the fresh, gray, and black water tanks. These pads are individually switched. This feature allows the saving of battery power in a dry camping situation. To conserve battery power, RV antifreeze may be used to protect the gray and black tank. Battery power will last about 3 hours using all three heat pads."

Ours is 2016 FC23D, so according to the manual, it should have heat pads installed for the tanks, and not only that, they are individually switched. For the life of me, I cannot find these switches. Will anyone enlighten me?

I am wondering if the manual is mistaken. I posed your question over on the 23D thread and the owner of a 2017 23d stated that the tanks are ducted furnace heat. Take a look under your closets, sofa, etc and you should be able to see if there is heating ducts going into the tank areas. You got me curious with this question as I'm thinking of switching from a 23FB to a 23D and having the heat pads would make it a deal-killer for me.

We had a 2015 23D and couldn't find the switches mentioned in the user manual either! We ended up calling the dealer who told us that our model had the ducted heating for the tanks.

Apparently they still haven't updated the manual...

In the hinged space under the closet on street side, there seem to be two ducts. One is coming into the trailer. The other, I don't know. I just remember having seen two. I'll check when I get home.

23D has a heat duct running to tanks and is located under the cabinet under the rear sink. Take off both cabinet doors, then pull off bottom facia plate under cabinet and you'll see a small duct going thru the floor to the tanks.
