Furrion 30 amp Inlet Installation

2.5” or 2.75” hole??

Hi Folks
About to install a Furrion 30a Inlet that I bought from Vintage Trailer Supply ( very nice) they say use a 2.5” hole saw for cut out in their on line instructions.

Furrion 30A Round Stainless Inlet

Furrions in box instructions says 2.75” hole saw. Which did you use?

I would like to use the smallest one that would do the job but you only get one shot with a hole saw without involved remedial measures. So is the safest way using a 2.75” hole saw and call it good?

Also please share any tips or advice or even a step by step you took to a successful installation.

Have you measured the diameter at the widest part on the backside of the inlet? That would be the diameter that I would cut. I would make the hole as small as possible.

Thanks no I haven't. I did drill a 2.5 piece of cardboard and it dropped in but then there is the plastic something or other. The trouble is until I do it I don't know what is going on. I don't want to over look something to find the hole doesn't fit.

Anyway I hope someone remembers what they did.

If in doubt use a scrap piece of aluminum to figure out the hole issue. I also cut a rubber washer to help seal the housing to the shell and caulked both sides during assy. The whole thing was about an hours worth of time.

you can use foamboard or cardboard to check. I drew a ring around mine, cut the hole and was fine. If in doubt you can start with a slightly smaller hole then file it out.
