electical gremlin

I am the new owner of a '75 soverign and a rookie in this airstream thing. The trailer electricals will not work off a new battery but are fine off shore power. A test light says power gets to the distribution board. All fuses are intact. The battery is brand new. Could this simply be a ground issue or is there some secret "kill switch"? Thanks in advance. Sounds like the kill switch. I believe it is hidden near where the battery cable comes in at front center of the trailer.

My Overlander kill switch is located at the rear compartment.

My Univolt has a couple of large capacity fuses, (30 and 50 amp) that protect the Buss of the DC supply within the Univolt.

If one of these fuses are blown than the Buss will not provide DC to the respective circuits throughout the trailer.

Not sure if this is your problem but maybe it will help.

The Univolt on my Overlander is on the curbside rear of the trailer under the bed.

My "kill Switch" literally looks just like a light switch from your house. It is in a square metal switch box that is mounted on the right side of the opening.

It breaks the 12 volt negative DC connection from the Univolt to the battery.

Mine is very obvious. It is the only switch in the rear compartment.

I have actually installed a second switch that disconnects the 120 volts feed to the Univolt.

I installed the new switch within the box that has the Polarity indicator in it. The polarity indicator lets you know if you have the 120 volt shore power connected bacwards. It is a small round red light.
