Dual AC Performance on hot days

I have a 2021 Globetrotter 27F, dual AC and hooked up to 50Amp.

Boulder, CO:
95'F High / 20% Humidity
70'F Low (midnight)

Airstream:
Inside: 75.4'F / 27.2% Humidity

Both AC's were running full-speed since approximately 8am and set at 68'F, right now at 2pm I measure 75.4'F inside (I have a separate Wifi thermometer for when I leave the dog).

Awnings are retracted (because I am away), all blinds/skylights closed.

Wondering if others get a similar performance?

2pm is the hottest part of the day in Colorado, so that's pretty good. If parking in the shade is an option, it will be a night and day difference (pretty literally). Painting your roof white, and better yet using a ceramic IR reflective paint can lower your interior temp by 20 degrees. By that I mean if no a/c was running, the white roof would drop the interior temp that much, thus your A/C would be working much less hard).

p.s. Setting your a/c to 68 does not mean it will cool more; it just means it has to hit a completely unrealistic number before it will cycle on and off. It would be better to set the temp around 75, so that if it actually gets that low it can take a break.

I believe all Airstream trailers leave the factory with white painted roofs and that has been true for quite some time. They are painted white for the reason stated above - white reflects heat from the sun better than any other color.

As others have already mentioned. It isn’t the outside temperature as much as direct sunlight. If the inside wall of your trailer is hot to the touch, it creates a ton of radiant heat. Shade or awnings is your best friend when combating the heat.

I was torn between a 28’ Serenity with a single AC and a 25’ Globetrotter with Dual ACs. When we’re parked at the beach here in Florida 92 degrees without a lick of shade I’ll be appreciating the 75 or lower my 2 ACs will keep my GT during the day. Airstreams have many great points, but insulation isn’t one of them.

Opening that front window shield takes some of the contact heat away from the trailer. I also keep my awnings in if I have to be away. A small fan on the floor helps, also, open the high cabinet doors on the west side. One AC running in my 26 has been enough - ymmv

Gonna be a hot week ahead. I will be working out of my 30’ airstream at pleasant view soccer fields in north boulder this week with a single AC running off small genset + batteries.

Hoping to hold 80 if it’s 91 out. Will deploy awnings. We shall see… will report back [emoji4]
