Door bells

I have an 83 Excella with a doorbell but the doorbell assembly appears to have gotten vey hot and contorted.

Doe anyone know if the doorbell is 12 volt or 120 volt or a combination of both?

Can you replace the doorbell with any house type doorbell?

Where can you purchase a OEM replacement and how much does one cost?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 83 Excella doorbell?

I got the little round doorbell from home depot. It was lighted and worked great for about 6 months, then the light died.
The switch is a standard bell switch, and cost about 2 or 3 bucks. If you could get the same size and a little better quallity it might last longer.

Been a while but I was curious if you had fixed this? I have the same AS.

FYI all door bell buttons are low voltage (<24V), though of slightly different voltages and household ones generally work on AC current, but there is no problem switching if you find one that fits and you like the look.

Here is the wiring for our 84 excella. Looks like there is a component to correct the voltage or impedance?

Skinny wires run to/from button and thicker wire provide 12v and ground. Fuse as well

There is writing 1 1/2 v, maybe would have run on batteries as well
