Door bell for blind???

Ok so I replaced the door bell button and now when you push it the lights inside blink and the is no chime. Although they make some door bells for the deaf that work this way I don't think this is the case. Any ideas what the problem is?

Your doorbell is designed to be powered by a solar cell. It rings continuously till the lights blink when the doorbell button is pressed. When the ringing stops for a moment, you know that you have company.

OK, my real guess would be that the doorbell is stuck or something and is drawing enough power to cause the lights to dim but not quite enough to blow a fuse. I'd start by checking the doorbell itself.

Following on the first response, you need a dog. When the lights blink, he is trained to bark and you know someone is at the door! Simple, eh?

Seriously, there probably is some kind of a short in the line. It is, as noted in the first response, not enough to blow a fuse. Actually I believe there was an inline fuse in the doorbell circuit, near the bell itself, and it may have been replaced with one which is too large and will not blow.

Since it happened after you replaced the bell button itself, I would guess the problem may be in or near the new doorbell button.
