Hello all.. We have a 1976 Tradewind .We have no manual. Rewiring 12 volt system would the circuit breaker for the battery be a 20 or 30 amp ?

Annie,

Unless someone has done a major rewire job your 12 volt system is going to use glass fuses.

The 120 Volt System would feed the univolt and is usally on a 15 or 20 amp circuit with other outlets. Some units will have a wall switch like in your house just to control the univolt outlet so it can be turned off without turning off any other circuits.

Brett, I am talking about the 12v going from the tow vehicle to the trailer right after entering the trailer there is a circut breaker going on to the battery and the one I am replacing is totally disintergrated and it is either a 20 or 30 amp and that is the one I need to know about. Thanks Annie

The main feed from the tow vehicle to the battery is normally a 50 AMP glass fuse.

Anything smaller is a standard size, but the 50 amp one is bigger. If it is the smaller size, then I would start with a 20 amp and see if it blows. If it does, that is a sign of other trouble, good reason to start small.

i have the feed line to my trailer charge line fused with a 30 amp mega fuse.

perhaps you could move the breaker away from the battery.

if you put it further up the line, the battery acid won't eat away at the next one you install.
