Can anyone identify the purpose of these wires:Thule step on a 21 Caravel 22fb

I was detailing the trailer today in advance of a trip this weekend. Found what appears to be a switch with 2 wires coming out of it on the step in front of the entry door.

Hi

From that angle, there's really no way to guess what it actually is. My *guess* is that it was dropped by somebody when the trailer was built. It's finally shaken loose from wherever it was hidden. The fact that both wires are cut clean is a bit odd if that is the case ....

Thule makes electric steps and that looks like it could be a stop or limit switch. What does Richard think it is?

Switch

Hi
I believe that the switch is a “leftover” from the power step function. Our ‘17 International (and our current Caravel) both have it.

It is “closed” when the step is deployed. I wired ours with an LED light and 12v photocell so the light goes on when the step is out and it’s dark. Works great!
