BIG Problem with 2019 GMC truck sith Furrion back up camera

Beware that the 2019 GMC (Sierra 1500 DENALI) will NOT work with the Furrion cameras We ordered one from Furrion per Amazon (600.00). Furrion will not refund it nor will Amazon! We installed it and it worked perfectly for a week until we traded tow vehicles. It is a known problem that The 7 way does not put out 12 volts. 600.00 paperweight!!! Anyone know how hard it would be to fish a wire to the 12 Volt by the DVD player back to the camera? We had no trouble wiring to the lights but now we have to do it all over. We REALLY REGRET BUYING THIS BACK UP CAMERA! What a Father's Day gift!!!

Search for the thread on this. There is a pretty simple fix identified by Rich. GM understands but no fix is imminent for 2019.

Thanks, Larry. We read that and it was clear as mud for us. Can someone explain it better? We can get to that area but then don't understand what to wire to what?

Without knowing what model, and what 12v items you have in The rear, I cant tell you where to tap into for a 12 v feed. But all you need to do is get a lower amperage relay. Tap the control side ( the coil which closes the relay) into the taillamps circuit, so you can use your park light switch in the TV to turn the camera on and off. Tap the load side of the relay into any convenient source which has power at all times. The relay (control side) is so slow, ie, old school that the pulse will have no effect on trying to open and close the relay. Old school mechanical device to the rescue on a modern oversight.

Furrion will be releasing a new 7-way harness adapter that will plug in between the tow vehicle and your Airstream this will fix the problem and allow you to use the Vision S cameras. Harnesses will be available in three to four weeks.

Furrion Engineers have the Solution!!

UPDATE: My husband and I have never before received such great customer service! Furrion's "head of customer relations" called my husband and their engineers have a fix for this problem. It is a simple adapter that they have tested and it works. It plugs in the 7 way and boosts the voltage to the camera (ours is wired to our running lights). To top it off they are overnighting it and sending it free. We are overwhelmed with the service. It is not their issue (it is GMC's) and yet they have worked out a fix. Rarely, if ever, have we had THIS sort of exemplary service. We have contacted and written reviews on Furrion's service and this adapter everywhere we can think of... even contacted GMC's Auto Engineer, Daniel Cohen. If you know of anyone with this problem or owners of Airstreams struggling (like we were) with a solution please let them know Furrion has the answer!

We have now traveled over 800 miles with the Furrion prototype adapter for the 2019 GMC attached to our 7 way. We have traveled through mountains, heavy thunderstorms, rough roads, and construction and the adapter has not so much as hiccuped! We have a crystal clear picture and feel much safer being able to view the rear of our Airstream.

We had no idea how to fix this problem with the “Special Technology” in our new truck. While we LOVE the trailering features the truck offers, one caveat was not being able to get a constant 12 volt charge to use that camera on the back of our Airstream. Furrion's engineering has solved our problem with this adapter. We have been informed it will be offered for sale in 3-4 weeks.

I ordered my pig tail yesterday and am hopeful this will fix our camera problem with our 2019 Sierra Denali.
I guess there is no one working because no one filled my order today?

I wanted to update you on the Pigtail I ordered in my post above. The backup camera works fine. What doesn't work is the towing info on the info screen inside the truck. It doesn't see that there is a trailer is connected to the truck. We value that information more than the backup camera, so we no longer use the pigtail.

I plan to try installing this device on it sometime next week. I will report the results then.

That is very strange. I ordered the pigtail for our 2019 Sierra and could not be happier. Rear camera works great and all towing related information works as before without pigtail. I also ordered the device from Amazon but didn’t want to splice camera wires. I bought this before the pigtail.
Try resetting the information in the app on the truck after you plug the Airstream in. Don’t know if you tried it.
If you still want to try the device, I’m not using it so it’s yours if you want it.

Thanks! Once I get it back from the Airstream Dealership Service Dept. I will give that a try. I hope it addresses our issue for sure. I will come back here and post the results.
