Question Battery Replacement Question

I had both batteries fail, and had to replace them. The previous batteries were Interstate Marine/RV Deep Cycle SRM-27s

I replaced with Duralast 27DP-DL Group 27 Starting Marine and RV

I assume these are compatible, but I'm not a battery expert at all, and the folks at AutoZone on a Saturday night were not the most knowledgable either.

Would appreciate any confirmation/comments.

Thanks,
Brett

The 27DP-DL is a starting battery. You want a deep cycle battery. The 27DC is the correct one in the Duralast line. Starting batteries are designed to provide short bursts of high current. They are not designed to provide continuous current over a long period like you want in an RV application. Deeply discharging a starting battery will shorten its life much more than it does a deep cycle.

Agree w/ AK Nate-
AutoZone should exchange those for deep cycles.
Anyone needing batteries, keep in mind,Wal-Mart has big Deep Cycle boat batteries for approx $99 each.
They take a real beating, and if they go bad,( rare )will exchange/ pro rate them at any Wal-Mart across country.
Ive torture tested those at 0 degrees in boats with electric motors duck hunting.Far superior to Interstates, in my opinion.

The above is correct,
However I had a cheap car battery in my airstream for about 3 years and it worked just fine, now that battery has been in my stockcar trailer for two years running the winch and it’s worked fine for that but obviously is not ideal.
