Battery Relocation Help
Hey Airstreamers, I just got back from wildcamping/boondocking in lovely Crested Butte and need some help with electrical.
We had a great time and were off grid for four days. We ran mainly off of my Yamaha ef2000isv2 for a couple hours each day.
I currently have some old worn out Interstate srm's that are crap and want to replace with some lifelines and move them under the bed. I think I'd like two 6 volts. It seems to me that it should be a fairly easy job. I am also replacing the converter/charger with a pd4655v.
I know these things have been addressed elsewhere, but have you tried to search on this forum? It's easier just using google.
Here's my questions
-wiring, I initially with out checking schematics, thought that it would be a direct connect to my converter/charger from my battery under the bed but then wondered if it needed to go to my store/use switch.
-battery size. Has anyone put 6v lifelines under their bed and do they fit? Are they too tall? I know I could and will measure myself but the silver twinkie is in storage and well...I'm lazy and I thought you all would know. Is there a better option? Also has someone made a bracket is one available third party to secure the batteries under the bed.
-lastly i see all these cool trimetic and other brand voltage monitors. Do I really need one? I want to baby these new lifelines I get to get the most mileage out of them. Does the cheap voltage monitor Ive been using that just plugs into the DC acc slot work well enough?
I really appreciate all your comments. I've learned a lot here!
Thanks, Stephen
