Battery Charging

Hi, when our AS is plugged in at our indoor storage facility will our batteries recharge in Storage mode or do we need to keep in Use Mode?

Usually "Use" mode . . . check your owner's manual.

Hi, Susandoris. Welcome to the forum!
Can I suggest you update your profile so others have some idea what type of trailer you own? Also, include that information in posts of this nature because the phone app doesn’t always display your profile.
We’re happy to help, but could use a bit more info.
Happy camping!

Why is it plugged in....

....unattended at a storage facility?

I always charged the batt's fully and disconnected for storage.

I now use a disconnect/storage switch.
Both the AGM's and new Lithiums have held their charge until Spring get-ready.

Thank you! Didn't realize I did not have that info. It is updated now but we have a 2019 FC 23' - We keep it in a warehouse that has 30amp hookup so it can stay plugged in. Just a gray area on Storage vs Use Mode when plugged in and want to keep batteries charged.

Does your owner's manual recommend this too?

Susandoris,
If it’s like my 2020 FC 23FB, it will charge when the battery is in “store” mode.
It also charges from the solar panel if you have one, but with inside storage that doesn’t help. Keeping it plugged in is the way to go, because the propane sensor will run your battery down. That model has the smart converter that moves to trickle charge when the battery is topped off. As others suggest, read your owners manual, but, as Ronny said, “Trust, but verify.”
If the trailer is at all accessible, it would good to visit at some point and check the voltage on the control panel assuming you have one, or with a multimeter, which you should definitely have in your toolkit. New batteries aren’t cheap!

From 2000-2020 Airstream flip-flopped on whether the use/store switch had to be in use or store to charge the batteries. Best to check at the batteries with a meter 13+volts means they are charging, very simple to check.
