BARALDI RANGE HOOD--Shuts Down During Use

2016 FC-25 The range hood shuts down when in use with oven and one burner going. After we're done cooking it functions again. There is obviously a thermal breaker someplace in the hood. I would like to know if others experienced this and how you went about remedying the matter. When operating, the hood seems fine.

I called AS Customer Service and the fellow I spoke with took info and called back later. He told me that the FC-25 was designed for "Camping Cooking!" Apparently the intent is that one should not utilize the range/oven and should cook outside! Otherwise, we love our new trailer and are looking forward to two months of exploring out west in Oregon and California this fall. We also love pot roasts!

That's such odd advice! Not acceptable!

I would have said your 3A fuse needs to be replaced by a 5A fuse (which I've done in mine) but the fact that it works again later has me stumped. You should be able to use it however the heck you want! Camping cooking? What the heck is that? If you're cooking on your stove in the camper, the hood should work!

Sheesh...

Wish I could be of more help.

Camping cooking, hooey.
When mine did this, I found that the electrical connection,up behind where the fuse is located, was loose and may have been shorting out against the aluminum side wall. I messed with it a bit, put some electrician's tape on it, replaced the fuse with a 5 amp one and it has not malfunctioned in 4 years. Good luck. Jim

And not to add to the noise on Baraldi make sure you 'slide' the switches. If you push in on them very hard the switch assembly will push into the hood, just plastic prongs holding it to the front plastic faceplate. Not hard to fix but if the prongs break then it is a $100+ part.

Be sure that the outside flap is not latched down in the travel position.

Ours worked sometimes and the next time it wouldn't. Turned out the fuse holder cap was not tight.

And sometimes the little fuse is too short and you have to put a wee bit of tinfoil on one end. Jim

Could someone give me the specs on the fuse that go in the vent? Unfortunately the existing fuse blew a good while back and I took it out to get a replacement and of course lost it. In the meantime I have tried several attempts to purchase a 5amp fuse that I thought would fit only to find out when I tried to fit it in -- it was too long. If you could also tell me where you purchased your replacement fuses that would likewise be appreciated.

Amazon.com. search for 5 amp slow blow fuse.... you want size 5mm x 20 mm, and you'll probably have to buy a 10 pack.

I looked high and low trying to find one locally with no luck (Radio Shack is gone) but reading an Amazon review taught me that electric guitars and amps use these fuses quite commonly.

Happy hunting, Paula
