Airstream battery power green light

On our 2023 27’ Globetrotter the battery power green light near the front door intermittently flashes off and on. Sometimes a it goes off for an extended period. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for when it flashes or goes off for a while. It usually comes back on. The light being off does not seem to affect anything electrical on the trailer as best we can tell.

Does anyone know the reason for this and what to do to fix it so it stays on the way it should?

Does anyone know if the light being off actually affects anything electrical in the trailer.

We normally stay in campgrounds and are plugged in at all times. We haven’t boondocked so don’t know if this would occur when not plugged in. Two Airstream dealers have “fixed” this and it keeps recurring.

The green LED is supposed to blink to advise when the battery level is low. However, most on the forum who experience intermittent blinking have found loose connections at the relay.. Do you know where yours is located? Can you hear it 'click' when you press the green button?

If all the wires at the relay are tight (I assume the dealers checked, but... ) you should take the green LED switch out of the cabinet and you'll find a white Molex connector about 6" down the wire, away from the LED switch. Make sure both sides of the connector are pushed securely together.

Yes, two layers of duct tape at night even after I changed out the resistor on the LED, it's still too bright!

Thanks to everyone for the information. I know the relay was mentioned by the first Airstream dealer and it was supposedly replaced. Didn’t do much good as the blinking reappeared within a couple of days. I will check the Molex connector to make sure the connections are tight.

As a brief aside. I wish Airstream would fix the little things that seem trivial but are very aggravatiing.

Thanks again for the information.

Ours does the same thing. I put painters tape over it and ignore it. I seldom turn the switch off as we are usually plugged in at home or on the road.

Air Boards

Maybe this is why the AirBoad Shop has designed a cover for that light.

It's aggravating, but if nothing else works I wouldn't worry about it since I have yet to figure out what good that switch does. It does not disconnect the batteries completely from all DC loads, only the ones in connected in the fuse box. The CO detector and the inverter standby still will drain the batteries eventually. We like our 12V frig running while in the road, so it's no good at disconnecting a light or something that got left on accidentally. If there's a realistic scenario where it's useful I'd like to know.

I decided to move the converter charge line from the "battery side" to the "house side". I'm lucky and have shore power available in storage and my purpose was to stop continuously charging the batteries but have power available in the trailer.

Other than the CO/propane sensor I have a TPMS repeater and a Renogy blue tooth battery repeater connected to the batteries. The parasitic load is +/- 0.7amp daily.

I watch the battery charge drift and occasionally reconnect the batteries to confirm the converter is putting out amps, the batteries are accepting the charge and the Renogy phone app is working. I really rely on the Renogy when camping and with the converter charge line moved I can confirm all before I go out on a trip.

I will admit the green LED now stays lit whether the relay is connected or not - I have not spent any time sorting that out. The 47k ohm resistor just knocks the brightness down to tolerable.

We had the blinking light on our 2022. It was after we drove through a torrential downpour for hours. Water had gotten into our battery compartment and into the RJ45 connectors on our batteries. Dried them out and it was fine.

When I hit that switch, on our AS, the gas alarm goes off (turns off). I thought that was supposed to be wired to never go off.
