Airstream Announces PowerPlus

Airstream has finally announced a new dealer-installed option for Solar/lithium called Power Plus. While not as extensive as what some of us have done it appears to include up to four rigid solar panels, Victron solar controller, 1000watt upgraded inverter and battery monitor, optional Lithium batteries. I'm sure it's pricey but would be a good option for some.

A step in the right direction and I agree it will probably be very pricey.

I don't think the 1000W inverter is enough and don't know why a 2000W was not included. You cannot run a 750w microwave on a 1000W inverter without pushing it into over capacity as they draw 1200+ watts. Why so much? I don't know, but they do draw much more power than just their rated cooking watts.

I agree. It is good that AS is finally offering something that presents the advantages of new battery technology, but in 8 years of being involved, I have not seen that Airstream has done anything just right. Not electrical, not audio, not technology, and so on. It will sound nice in a brochure but like most Airstreamers, the better solution is DIY or capable aftermarket installers.

You are better off using a full victron set of products. 3000w inverter converter, bmv712, solar motor and one way diode from TV to as

Plus you can access from web or phone

Lower cost, more capacity, and adds features that as does not offer
Next time you order, ask for no battery and just order 1-4 lion from battle born

The advantage of this is it’s pretty much plug and play depending on your trailer, so coat is that much different. Battleborns are the same cost, the other pieces are slightly higher, but I can hold the dealer as responsible as I travel for warranty. Trade offs. Best possible system probably not, do the job probably

As mentioned a 1000w inverter in not big enough IMHO.

But at least there are some options being presented to buyers.
