Additional info for anyone installing Micro-Air EasyStart

I know there are many of you out there that are adding this to your ACs. We have a Dometic Penguin II 13500 BTU unit in our AS. We are installing the EasyStart. We are not electricians and so we are having ours installed so we do not mess the whole tyhing up. We did not know that you need to purchase the install kit they offer on their site along with the EasyStart. It was not clear that we needed anything additional to install it when we purchased it. Now we know we do need additional items. If you are a DIY person and handle many electrical issues yourself you may have the items in the install kit already. For those of you more like me, we did not have the items.
Cheers!

Thanks for posting this information Driftin Di, we just purchased the EasyStart and the installation kit. It's our intention to have someone else install it for us. We called our local Airstream dealer and they quoted us $400 to install. So we're looking elsewhere.

Just curious, how did you find someone to install it? And how much did it cost? And how do you like it so far? Thanks for the information.

You do not need to be an electrician to follow simple instructions. The average person should be able to complete in less than two hours. I would think any rv repair facility should be able to complete in an hour to an hour and a half.

I would think you should be able to get it done for $150. or shop elsewhere. As far as the kit it is handy but a trip to your local hardware store and about $5.00 and you should be good to go.

[QUOTE=Oli44;1973653]Check with Micro-Air and they will provide instruction on an EasyStart installation procedure where it can easily and quickly be removed should the possibility of AC warranty issues arise.

We hired a local company that does all RV and trailer work and has been a round for years. They had not installed an EasyStart before so it was a bit of a botch job. Thanks to Matteo at EasyStart he walked us through with these guys the entire thing. His customer service is outstanding. It works great. Our problem still is getting the generator to run the system without shutting down and hopefully this weekend we can figure this our!! Good luck and we paid them $200 for a house call install.

easystart install

Just finished my micro air easystart install. If you are at all handy, it is fairly easy, especially with online instructions. One caveat, after I did my install and started the AC the first time I got an error code on the thermostat. I turns out (after some consternation and research) that the AC control board has a number of DIP switches which are very easy to disturb when wiring the run capacitor. If these are not set properly or changed, the system will not work. So I had to disassemble the AC and reset these properly. If you are doing this install, note the switch positions before you begin and be careful not to change them.

Everything running well now, it is a important upgrade.
