Adding Temp Controlled Relay to PD9200 -Opinions?
I have changed out the converter/charger to a Progressive Dynamics PD9200.
Since the PD9200 lacks temperature compensation I am concerned about leaving it connected during summer temperatures which can reach 100F for weeks at a time around here.
I have a battery disconnect switch, so easy enough to just switch it off during high temperature periods, but looking at an alternate idea:
What about installing a temperature controlled relay (found several rated at 80A 12V) across the battery disconnect terminals? Thinking of setting at maybe 85F or so, so there would be no charging when ambient temps are high, but would allow charge during cooler night time temperatures, as well as cooler times of the year.
