Preparing for a trip this weekend. Plugged the trailer to 120V shore power, but absolutely not power to interior either 12V or 120V. Juice is going to trailer, but nothing works, not even the use/storage panel light. All fuses look good. What could the issue be...I'm stumped and, of course, timing couldn't be worse. Help!
First let me say I'm not an electrical expert. I assume the use store switch is powered off the DC side. Have you confirmed that there's no power on any of the 120 V outlets? If you had power in outlets but nothing else worked I think that means the converter has gone bad?
We had an older 23fb which only had one power connection on the outside. Does your AS have one or two? If you have two the issue could be the transfer switch. There have been posts recently on the forums about those switches. They are not the highest quality and do fail.
Our FC has one power connection on the street side. The power cable has LEDs lit on both ends and the built in surge protector is functioning...telling me that juice is getting to the trailer. Nothing is getting power inside to include the outlets, lights fridge, etc. The battery disconnect doesn't show power either. Would a converter go bad on a year old trailer?
I just spoke to my Airstream service tech in Budda, TX, who told me to bring the trailer in to the shop...unfortunately 100 miles from my home. Said it could be anything, but not something I should be playing with that could void the warranty. I'm going tomorrow and will post the diagnosis when I learn something more.
If it were me I'd remove the power inlet and make sure the wires were tightened when it was installed. I had a 2007 20' Safari that completely lost power and when we took the screws out of the connector it fell on the ground - none of the 3 wires had been tightened when the connector was installed.
