Question 62 Bambi Battery

I recently aquired a 62 Bambi w/ no Battery. There doesn't seem to be any connectors in the back compartment (where the water heater is). There is a narrow aluminum mounted compartment in the front (above the gass cans) that has a little blach and a red wire and two loose battery connectors, but the compartment is not big enough for a standard size battery. Has my trailer been customized? Any ideas?

Could that battery location be for the breakaway switch for the brakes?

Also if you don't have it, User Manuals are available for purchase from:

Helen Davis Secretarial Services

The owners manual I have for 1966 shows the battery and univolt access door for single axle trailers on the street side just in front of the axle. Also found there are electrical and water connections. Not sure if that helps on your 1962.

I ordered my owners manual from Helen Davis. Also note there is no service/shop manual for any years in the 60's or older.

The battery you are looking for is a 12V forklift type battery, which can still be purchased today. It is long and narrow and fits in that front compartment you described.

I have a similar question. My 56' Bubble came with a home made battery box attached to the front of the hitch (in front of the gas tanks). What seems odd to me is it appears all of my interior lights are 110 and I don't seem to have any 12v lighting on the inside. Was that typical in 56'? Does anyone know if originally there was a battery on the unit and if so where it would have been located. Not sure what it would have run since there doesn't appear to be anything in the unit that works off of 12V. I have a 110 type plug on the front of the trailer that sends power to an old glass type fuse box. I'm told my Bubble originally had an Ice Box (so I guess it didn't need electricity?), a long narrow gas heater, and an stove and oven. No 12v electric water pumps or hot water heater. So does that mean back than 12V wasn't used (except for the exterior trailer lights)?
