50 amp power cord extension

We are going to stay with our daughter and will need additional length on our power cord to reach the 50amp post installed by my son in law- approx 75 ft total. Can we safety connect the 30ft cord (that came with our AS) with a 50 ft 50 amp cord to achieve the length we need to reach the post? Do we need an adaptor to connect the two cords?

Your question requires more data to answer completely. However, in short, it all depends! Wire size, length, and electrical load all combine to determine the maximum safe load and distance combination.

Is your Airstream equipped with a 50 Amp cord so it can support dual air conditioners running simultaneously? Typically you won’t need that much power during the cooler seasons unless your AC unit is also a heat pump which you can use at temps above 40 degrees instead of the furnace. Your choice of appliance use will dictate the maximum amperage draw.

Yes- we can run dual ac’,s with a 50amp cord. We will likely be running the heat pump at night on this trip. We are concerned about cord length and connecting our 30ft 50 amp cord with a 50 ft 50 amp extension. Will there be a reduction in the amount of electricity that gets to the AS with that length of cord?

Before I had a 50 amp receptacle added to the side of my house I used a 50 foot extension cord to power my ev car charger or the TerraYacht, but I usually kept the TerraYacht plugged into a 120v 20 amp cord for maintenance.
The 6 gauge will support 50 amps for a 50 foot length and I bought mine at Amazon. I changed the dryer receptacle in my house and ran it from there with a 40 amp breaker: the weakest link was the breaker and I didn't want to change that, but had no problems with one a/c unit: second a/c was OOO.

You cannot take two RV power cords and make an extension.
The female end is a different connector than the male end for the RV.
If you had a 50 amp extension cord, then yes.
75' is not a killer distance, and I doubt you'll be pulling 50 amps unless you run 2 a/c's all the time.
Try it.
