3-Way Roof Light Switches
My 1976 Airstream has a couple of bad 3-way switches on the roof lights...is Airstream Dealer the best place to order replacements, or are they widely available?

Roof LIghts
I had to repair one light switch on my 27' Int. They were the 4 bulb type. Took them out. There is a disconnect in the ceiling, pull it out to find it. Be careful you don't want to disconnect in the roof.
Take it apart NOTING WHERE THE WIRES GO and clean the contacts. I also moved the weaker one to the bedroom where it would receive less use. I think Island RV has new ones. LOL

3 way switches
I think there was a post that said that home depot or lowes carries those three way switches probably a lot cheaper than a dealer

Inland RV has them as well as Ace Fogdall RV in Iowa. I contacted Florence at Fogdall at 1-(800)747-0747 on the advice of one of the forum members and bought 2 of the round knobs for that switch. They had switches at that time 3/13/02 and the forum member had one he had ordered from them that what not what he wanted but was the part I needed (thanks
thenewkid64). Yes, I have heard that they are available at Home Depot but were not available at the Lowe's near me.

Lowes does carry three way switches, but they are not the same and won't work because they are not long enough. It needs to be long enough to extend through the hole in the overhead light assembly and receive the jam nut and push on knob on your 76. Your Airstream dealer should have the correct switch.

Stock must vary from location to location, but I saw what appeared to be the exact same switches at Lowe's; the local HD did not have them. They were also the correct length for my trailer; perhaps the 76 has a different setup. anyway, they were only a couple of bucks, and the dealer charged me somewhere around 10 bucks each for them. (I only noticed them at lowe's AFTER I already picked up the replacements from my dealer )

You’re probably correct that stock varies at home centers. I have attached a pic of the three that I have. The one on the right is the only three-way I have found a Lowes and it would not fit my 76. The middle is for the push-on style knob and the left is for the screw-on and are from Airstream. The middle one is what was on my 76. Curious as to which one you found?

Anyone found an inexpensive source for the long shaft version on the left? My kitchen light tanked on the last trip, and the local stores do not sell anything with a shaft that long.
Thanks,
Tom

tcwilliams.
Anything unique, is usually not cheap.
Any Airstream dealer can help you with that switch.
If not, we can.
