12vdc switch for water heater

Need help on how to install a 12vdc switch for new water heater. I installed a new Atwood water heater and notice that the electric is different from the old water heater. Old water heater has Blue, White and Brown wires, new water heater has Blue, White, Red and green wires. Talked to Atwood tech and she said if I wanted to run my water heater on electric mode only I would have to install a 12vdc switch. I am half way decent with 110 volt but ignorant of 12 volt system. How do I wire this up? How do I get 12volt power? Any help wood be appreciated.

Yes. The Atwood rep said that I should run a separate on/off switch because it would be extremely difficult to run another wire through the motorhome. My problem is where do I run the switch for power. Positive on the switch goes to brown and orange (brown is gas). What wire does the Load on the switch connect to? 12 wire color from MH wiring= brown, white and blue; new water heater wiring= orange, white, blue and green. Thanks
