12-volt Electrical to heater

I have a 1986 Sovereign and am having trouble with the heater. I am trying to access the circuit breakers for the 12-volt system. It appears that this is located behind the panel the displays the how full the tanks are etc. I don't see how this panel is accessed. My book indicates that circuit 3 goes to the heater so I am trying to start at the source. The last time I tried using the heater the fan didn't even come on. Any advice as to how to diagnosis the Suburban heater would be appreciated.

Start at the furnace, you may have a bad connection down there and I've had better luck accessing things in that area than at the control panel. Check the flat 4 way connector at the furnace to see if you have 12V and Ground.

Thanks, after I posted my query this morning I realized that the light over the sink / stove area is on the same circuit.

Well I have no 12 volts to my thermostat (Comfort Control) I am tracing the problem. I found the 3 amp fuse was blown inside Air Cond box. I have also checked breakers and the breaker at the furnace. Now its a matter of tracing the 12 volts...Trailer is a 97 30 ft Limited

Hum, I never looked at the thermostat for voltage. My unit has 4 wires coming out of the heater, 12V, gnd and 2 that go to the thermostat for contact closure. I can tie the two thermostat wires together and the heater will come on.

The 2 blue wires provde the furnace with the control voltage that tells it to turn on, providing that there is 12VDC to the pos and neg wires that feed the board, which in turn provides the voltage for the blower and the gas valve.

If you have voltage to the board, you can jump the 2 blue wires and the furnace should start and ignite after the purge cycle (approx. 30 seconds). You can do this test right at the furnace. If 12VDC is present at the board and nothing happens, you might have a bad board. You might have to remove it and have it tested. There are other diagnostics to do after that also.

Let us know what happens.
