YANAO ( Yet Another New Airstream Owner :-) )

Hi All,

My wife and I have made the next step in our "camping" progression. We have moved from tents to pop-up and now on to a 1973 Excella 500. We are excited and somewhat interested to see if we like this style of traveling. We have been in "canvas" for a long time! ( Not selling the pop-up just yet).

This forum has already proved invaluable to us as we researched, purchased, and started fixing up our new addition. I'm sure you all will be hearing from us, often!!

I do have one question though, is there a separate owner/service manual for the Excella? I have purchased the 73 manuals from the Airstream store, but none of the diagrams match our center bath 31' Exella 500.

Again, thanks for all you guys/gals do. It is much appreciated and we hope to be on the giving side in not too distant future.

Joe & Raina

Welcome to the forums.

The service manuals cover the entire line of products made for a given year. The one I have for my 75 has diagrams and schematics for rear as well as center bath models.

Thanks

Thanks for the welcomes.

Richard, I was afraid that was going to be the answer! None of the floorplans or wiring diagrams come close to matching the layout we have. The major difference is our bath is "curbside", while the manuals show the bath streetside. With the galley on the curbside, none of the ducting diagrams either match or make sense at this time. Oh well, if it wasn't a challenge, it wouldn't be fun!

Are you 100% positive that your unit is a 1973? I know that the 75 mid bath trailers had the bath on the curb side and closets on the street side. The VIN of the trailer will tell you the year.

Vin

Thanks for your help. The VIN is E31B3 S2757, which I decode as:

E - Excella
31 -- 31 '
B - Center bath, double bed
3 - 1973 ( there are 4 digits in the serial # so it's a seventies model )

Do I have it figured out correctly? If not, that may be my problem.

Your secret decoder ring is working perfectly. I guess they did not include your model in the book.

If life were simple!

Thanks for the input. Maybe someone has a manual for 75 and I could see how close it is. I've already spent $90, don't mind buying another set, if it's the right one or closer.
