What is this?

I am a new owner of a 1969 Airstream overlander. Just retired. I have a question. There is something on my Airstream that I don't know what it is. It looks like a awning channel over the wheel wells on both sides. About 4 to 5 free long, running just over the wheel well.

Plz help if you know. thx Spike

You got it....it's an awning channel to shade the tires...

Usually canvas, with a rope sewn in the edge to pull thru the channel.

You should have one on the roof also....

Welcome and congratulations on your retirement and new to you Airstream. There are lots of friendly and knowledgeable people here. You will have lots of questions, and this is the place to ask them. Don't be put off if you get contradictory answers or if some people seem to be arguing with each other about which of two or more answers is the best one. Just choose the parts that seem to apply best to you and ignore the rest. Once in a while those contradictory answers will lead you to more questions as you really learn what the question is.
