What do I look for in a 1970-72 AS?

Hi, I'm new to this AS world and the whole camping thing. I'm looking at and AS 1970, but the owner says that it is a 1971. It was used in a deer camp and the ref. was replaced last year. I went inside and was amazed at the room inside compared to other trailers I've been in. I'm 6'4" and need all the room I can get.

I'm looking for information on the roof, air conditoners, floors, electrical, plumbing, towing, bathroom and kitchen. I need to know what to look for in these models and if the models are worth having. I'm looking again tomorrow night.

Thanks for any information you give!

Use the search function and get all your answers but here is a brief summary if you can not figure it out.

Soft spots in the floor, rear bumper droop, leaks in the roof (evidenced by any staining on the inside) turn everything on to see if it works, Leaks in all the tanks, axle condition (arms below level), mattresses and cushions, drapes and anything else that has been degraded by the sun and temperature over time.

Go to www.vintageairstream.com and look for the condition vs price section. This should give you a pretty good idea of what to look for and what to pay. Also check the post on there now "new owner-overlander purchase"

Check Everything!!!!!

Be sure to check the floor everywhere. By the front door and around the front window. Take a screwdriver and poke around the floor, is a main concern. Leaks are the next concern look around windows.
And ask questions here these folks really helped. We bought our's 2 months ago. Although we are having to do some work here and there I wouldn't trade it for a new one.

Give us the Vin # and we will tell you the year.
If it is a 70 the interior is wood and if 71 it is wood look is one easy way.
What model/size is it, and how much?
