Greetings from Colorado: Welcome to the vintage Airstream hobby. You have the longest trailer built in 71 at 31'. It is roomy, and is a comfortable long distance travel trailer for sure. I personally like the early seventies trailers better than the late seventies mainly due to having a 3/4" subfloor and less plastic in the cabinets. That said, renovating these old trailers takes maybe 1000 hours of your hard labor. But it is fun.
I have renovated a 75 Overlander 27', and helped a friend renovate their 76
Sovereign 31'. (see photo) I just finished my son's 69 Globe Trotter 21'. Call me crazy and you would be correct.
Like Bubba L said, start a project thread, or "blog" as some call it, in the Airstream Knowledgebase found near the bottom of the Forums page. Click on
Sovereign and then your year range. Folks like me like following along on your project and offering "free advice" that might help you. There are plenty of Sovereign renovation threads posted there. Try reading the "Little Girl" thread as they built an award winning Sovereign. You can learn an awful lot about your project by reading what others had to do.
