We are new to AS and camping

My hubby and I are from Michigan and just purchased a 2003 International after 31 years of no camping. Since last month we have been camping twice, locally, to learn how to set it up and figure out what we have forgotten. So far too much stuff inside and not enough outside stuff.... like tools. We survived the first "dump" at the local campground with the help of a friendly camper. Are all campers so nice?

We are retired and are planning a trip to Arizona, via Georgia and Texas, in January/February. We hope that by then we are more accustom to our new fun.

We hope to meet other Airstreamers and attend a few local and regional rallies. Any advice would be very much welcomed. Thanks for such a great website/forum.

Connecting with A/S owners in your area...

Hi TinCanCoop,

This forum has a great 'Search Engine'!

If you go to 'Members List' on top bar and select it, all the members will appear.

Then select 'Search Members' on right side, another screen will appear.

Type in Michigan in the state space...you will come up with some 18 pages of AIR members in Michigan.

You can narrow the members by city, trailer type, etc.

Good Luck and welcome!

Metro Detroit rally

Hi and welcome!
There is a rally coming up that you should see about attending. It is the Metro-Detroit forums rally. We will be at Tecumseh, MI at the Indian Creek CG Aug. 20-22. Here is the link to the calendar which will give you the links that you need.
The last time we heard from Dave and Rhonda who host this rally, there were just a few sites left. So if you are inclined to come along please call the campground and sign up. Let them know that you are with the Airstream group. It is a fun time and a really friendly bunch of folk. Hope you get to come!
Oh, and if you find that the campground is full, you should get on a waiting list. Invariably, somebody has something come up and drops out. The link to the thread about the rally:

We hope to see you there!

Welcome T2C,

We're glad you've joined us and are participating in the Airstream lifestyle. Taking a few local trips like you've done is a great way to get acquainted with things. Feel free to post any questions from events or circumstances that you run in to during the discovery process.

Regards,

Kevin

Hello TinCanCoop, I'll second the invite to the Metro-Detroit Rally. You will have a great time. Congrats on the recent purchase of your Airstream. I'll give a wave Friday night as my wife and I head north on 131 through GR, were going boondocking with our '64 AS just south west of Cadillac.

Come on down 131 to Yankee Springs SRA. on gun lake next weekend... We have a family going to cancel spot 11 today so it will be available to reserve. We love to have company. We will be there Friday Sat. and Sunday.
