Want to join the Airstream family
Hi All,
Just joined this site and looks like we have come to the right place, wow. We have decided that we would like to purchase an Airstream and begin our retired lives enjoying this beautiful country. Haven't really started looking but felt we would like to find a well kept used model, something that could be towed with regular full sized pickup truck, hopefully a 1/2 ton model and gasoline motor. I imagine I am going to spend a lot of time on this forum learning as much as possible, but has there been a consistent source for finding and purchasing Airstreams? Again, not certain on size or models, but we prefer comfort, but not something to large. While I know this is all pretty vague right now, we are going to pursue this and would sincerely appreciate all the guidance and help anyone has to offer.

Well howdy and welcome to airforums.com, rbsev! You will find lots of good advice on every aspect of AS (Airstream) camping, maintenance and repair here.
Lots of superb stuff to read in the various forums, so spend some time looking around in there, OK?
Good luck with your search!

ps: there is a Classifieds section on here, so just look up top to the first menu bar and click on it. You will have to log in there too, just use the same user name and password as you created to get in here.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle
Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. You have found the right place for all things Airstream. The help that you will need is here.
We got in to Aistreaming almost five years ago. We have a 2005 Safari 25FB, name Lucy. Lucy has been in all of the lower 48 states. She has been camped in for almost 800 nights, and has been towed 70,000 miles. Traveling in Lucy and seeing the USA has been a really great experience. We have not tried of Airstream travel and look forward to our next adventure. We have traveled in Lucy for as long as eight weeks straight and never felt cramped.
We tow with a 3/4 ton Suburban, but many here on the Forums successfully tow a 25 with a half ton tow vehicle.
Good luck in your search for the perfect Airstream.
Here are some photos of our dear Lucy.
Brian

Welcome. We found our used AS on Craigslist, traveled almost 1500 miles to get it after extended conversations with the PO and looking at numerous pictures he sent us. We found a near-new trailer that we love. We had researched the various floor plans and had decided which ones would best suit our needs, then we were able to narrow our search to specific years and models. There are numerous used RV sites on the web, just do a Google search and they will come up. It took us about a year, but we found the AS we wanted at a great price by taking our time and being willing to travel to get it. Happy looking.

The smaller the Airstream the easier to travel, the larger the Airstream the more creature comforts. The 23' to 27' is a measure of both.

If you want near-new, check out year-old leftover stock at the Airstream dealers. Make them a decent offer and you might own a new one with full warranty for about the same as late-model used.

Welcome to the forums. We bought our 23' new at the end of the model year and were well pleased with the price, etc. Maybe see if you can find a dealer reasonably close to you, if possible, and go get up-close and personal with some different models/floor plans. Take your time and you will no doubt find the perfect model for you. There are plenty of threads in the archives about matching tow vehicle to trailer size (lots of opinions), weight distribution and sway control hitches, etc. You'll get pretty good at using the "search" function before your done! Best of luck.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with all here, this forum is a must. I have found all types of information here that has helped me refurbish my Overlander. I should be ready this August for my shake down trip. I hopefully will make my dream trip from Oklahoma to Washington State down thru most of California and back to Oklahoma next year.
Happy Trails.
