Wannabe one o' you

Just joined this forum and happy to be here. My husband and I were on the search for the retirement vessel- having built a 30'schooner in the Caribbean many years ago, we decided that on retirement, we would like a proper land yacht to sail the open roads. We just came back from the Tampa SuperRV show and had our list down to 3 fifthwheels and a tag (airstream). Now we are practical minded folks, and the thought of towing the empire state building up and down mountain roads weighed heavy on our brains and finally decided that Airstream has too much going for it to ignore. While the larger 5ths were like a home inside, the airstream felt like the home we built so many years ago. We are on our search for a 30' or 31' from 2003-2007 to keep in our price range. I am very excited about someday becoming a part of what I can see is a great group of folks.

Welcome to the forums. If you have the time, there is a wealth of knowledge here on everything Airstream......the good, the bad, and the ugly. There is also some fine folks that are always willing to lend a helping hand, and unlimited advice. Take your time reading, and don't forget to check the classifieds frequently.....your dream stream could show up there anyday now!

Thanks so much

Thanks for the warm welcome...Right now, we have a 16'Casita, sort of like a plastic stream....had always intended to keep that forever, but not so sure we will need two travel trailers...always thought that if we got a live-aboard, might be good to keep it for a week-ender, but re-thinking that one

Welcome to the Forum. Now that you have found the Forum, the rest will be easy. It will just take some time to figure out what is best for you.

Nice to have a big one and a little one. You can't get a big AS into some of the best campgrounds. My uncle always said "they are all too big when you are towing them and too little when you are living in them. We try to do most of our living outside the trailer and just use the trailer after dark and for sleepingl.

wise man

Your uncle was a wise man. Precisely why we finally made the decision to go to airstream rather than those huge 5th wheels that are more like rolling condos...Do you remember the first time you made the decision to go airstream? I am so excited, I can hardly sleep at night. The right one is out there, I just can't wait to find it

It's known as aluminitis and there is no known cure, but all those who are afflicted seem to be smiling all the time!

Welcome and be sure to ask any questions you may have, no matter how trivial they may seem - they will help you with your decision.

Welcome to the forums! We're glad you found us...
I too have enjoyed owning a fifth wheel and there are many advantages but its just not an airstream.

Good luck in your search and keep us posted.

If you do decide to sell your Casita, they sell quickly if fairly priced.

Welcome aboard and enjoy your alumnitis! I have gone from a 23 footer to a 35 foot moho during my Airstream life. Haven't owned anything but an Airstream and plan to stay with them the rest of my life. I've loved them all! Have fun in your search and remember to ask any question you may have. Check the classified here on the forums and also check ebay. Some good deals can be found.

Welcome aboard to all things Airstream! We have bought 2 ASs on the forum classifieds. Both from great people and units were in excellent condition. Just decide what you want and sit back and enjoy shopping. Before you know it the perfect one pops up! Don't forget to show us what you get! Happy hunting.
