Vintage pictures
I thought you might enjoy seeing several 1950's Airstreams all together. What makes these pictures more interesting is that they were take in 1955 and the trailers are all virtually new.
Of note is that fact that they aren't that shiny. Also of note is that there aren't any trucks being used for tv's, just regular passenger cars. In fact, I don't remember seeing trucks being used untill the late 70's.
The WBCC numbers on these trailers are all very low numbers, because there were only about 1300 at that time.
The 7 year old boy in the pictures is me 52 years ago. Are ther any other 50 year Airstreamers out there? I would love to compare recollections.
I also have some pictures of Wally Byam and his gold anodized Airstream attending a Rally in the 50's to promote his Capetown to Cairo Caravan. I'll post them if there is any interest.

Mr. Brumback,
Thank you for sharing these with us. I am sure that most here would love to see any picture you may have of your families Airstreaming voyages as well as the Wally Byam picyures that you have. 50 years of Airstreaming is positively a unique achievement.

Great photos Mike. Love to see these vintage pictures and yes, I'd love to see any pictures you have of the old trailers and Wally too. Keep 'em coming.

Mike more pictures, you could take yourself out of the picture and put me in and no one could tell the difference except I would have a Davey Crockett coon skin hat on. I belive many here are our age, the forum has a very nice mix of age groups.
Thanks

Great photos ! yes the thing is that these trailers were never polished up
from the factory ,so to be a purist may mean no polish,I like the polished look ,but OH the work involved .Those early cars all weighed about 4000lbs
back then mosty ,cadillacs ,buick specials ,desotos ,fords etc .The only photos Ive seen of mainly trucks towing these trailers are the caravans .
Then the ford F250 and the IH travelall were predominently the vehical of choice ,and 4 wheel drive as well as the IH travellette, a crew cab pickup.
but they were traversing rough dirt roads ,rivers and the like . Byams own
tow vehical was a 57 or 58 travellette crew cab with his gold anodized airstream . Very cool stuff .
