very old and very new

Hi everone. My wife and I were lucky enough two years ago to aquire a 98, 31' excella in perfect shape. I'm trying my best to keep it that way, but I have one or two little problems that I'm going to need help with. We live in deep south Mississippi and the blistering sun is starting to make the clear coat on the top sides(down to the blue stripes) crack and peel. Any advice? I'm also want to install one of the new style "shore power" electrical receptacles on my AS but I can't figure how to get the carpeted cover off the lower side bulkhead just in front of the small storage area. Again any advice? Thanks, "wanting to get on the road"

Hi Horsefoot and welcome aboard.

I can't answer your questions but someone will be along shortly to help out. I know that if you type clearcoat in the search function you'll find out more than you want to know about clearcoat.

Thanks, going camping, I found the forum on polishing AS's and there is more than enough information as to how I should proceed with that project. Some of the polish jobs are fantistic. I'm afraid I'm a little too old to tackle a project that large of doing the whole trailer, but I think I can handle the touch up that I need to do.

Welcome from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

The will be a Forms Rally in Santa Rosa Beach (about 50 miles east of Pensacola) the first weekend in January, 2008. If it can be in your schedule, hook up and come on. There is a link at the bottom of the Portal Page. We will check out you Airstream over copious amounts of beer.

Hello horsefoot -- Welcome to the Forums!

Polishing is easier with the Alclad skins used until ... 1979? See http://www.airforums.com/forums/f441...ish-33035.html. I suspect some sources are much more clear on the subject. I hear about burning skins and once it's done, it's done -- won't go back.
