The New Guy

Greetings. Well I finially joined! been reading on and off for a while. Still trying to get the hang of how this site works. Anyhow, I've been looking for a Airstream trailer. Trying to find something close to Long Island, within about 8 hours drive. Joy, found a '87 Argosy "squarestream" on E-Bay last week in CT. near Hartford. SCORE I thought , close by! So I bid turns out I lost, not by much . Then I get this "second chance offer" in my E-mail. I try to get contact info and directions to check it out in person ,since it is close by. Turns out to be a scam!!! Next I get E-mail that I must wire the amount of my bid to close the deal by western union . Lucily I contect E-Bay to get the real scoop. They are investigating , But think it's Fake SO BE CAREFUL!!! Now I' sad, SO close. Sorry to be such a bummer but feel I had to share, Swede17

Welcome Swede and thanks for the heads up. There's alot of unscrupulous folks out there and I'd never wire very much money for a long distance deal to someone I don't know personally. Have you checked out the thread entitled So You Want To Buy a Trailer 3 States Away? There are a number of us forums members who will go and check out a trailer for another, take photos and give an assessment. All asked in return in most cases is a little something for their time and gas. May save you some agrivation and the bonus is an experienced Airstreamer will give it a once over for you. Good luck and again welcome.
