Texas noob

Hello all. I'm Dustin. I'm 36 and I'm and oilfield producer in the Texas panhandle. My wife Jen and I are looking for an airstream to take our three daughters to see the country in. My oldest is in college and we have a 15 yo and a 5 yo at home. We are looking for a trailer in need of some love and restoration but not a gut job. We have one spotted here in Amarillo but we'll see how it works out.

We are also big mid century modern afficianados. We own a 1967 ranch style mcm home and I'm a big 50's style hot rod guy. I'm on the downhill side of a body off restoration of a 1963 karmann ghia and will be starting my 30/31 model A ford coupe in the early 50's style soon. So I'm no stranger to the work it will take to get one of these road worthy.

Glad to have found this forum. I can't wait to put what you guys already know to use and make my restoration easier.

Thanks
Dustin

Oh my.. A 1963 Karman Ghia? That is sort of the tiny yin to the big Airstream yang. We bought one new in 1965. It was lots of fun. Welcome to the forums and happy hunting on your Airstream project.

I'm a VW fan as well. I have a 63 Ghia also, just got it painted and ready to put it back together.
Welcome and good luck with your Airstream search.

You have all the bad traits for a Happy Camper in an Airstream. Nice Family, Hot Rods, VW's, and live in Texas. Be sure to check out what to look for before you buy.

Thanks a bunch for the warm welcome every one. The ghia is not much to look at right now but I'll post a couple pics. We're hoping to pick up a trailer this weekend.
This is after having the body dipped and starting on rust removal/repair

The body is in primer ready to work the dents out. The pan is completely finished and ready to go as well.
