Texas Beginners

Well we did it!
Bought a 27' '74 Ovelander.
It's in Iowa (my wife's home State) and we're going to pick her up next month.
We went tent camping about a month ago and decided we needed to buy a pop-up camper.........yea right!
One weekend of tent camping led to us buying a vintage AS!
We're excited and looking forward to seeing the country in our "Silver Rhino".
Our plans are to drive to South East Iowa, pick her up and head to Northwest Iowa (Lake Okoboji) for a week of camping then back to Houston.
I'm building a barn at our ranch to begin the restoration (and repairs).
I've been a homebuilder for years and can fix just about anything.....which I'm sure will be required on this "bucket list" project of mine.

Have a great time with your new 'Silver Rhino'...I think you'll find it a bit more agile than the run of the mill, White Rhino....

Don't forget to check out the tires carefully before you head down the road...have fun...

Looks nice, congratulations!

Assuming the tires/brakes/lights are all good, my advice would be to camp in her for more than a week so you get a good feel for what works and what you would like to change. I think a lot of folks dive right in to a monster rehab project before they really get to know their rig. Try to get out on weekends, wait for another vacation so you can go on another long trip -- then start your tinkering.

It's the camping and traveling that are important, not "how shiny" or "how high-tech".

Nice Trailer

Congratulations from a fellow Houstonian. I've done a lot of work on my 72 over the past year.(Live in West Houston). There's some great streamers near by and some good resources here in town. Better yet this forum can answer your questions on about everything you'll have to deal with.

Congratulations

Looks like you are in for some enjoyment. BTW if your timing is right you might get to see the class of 2010 graduate from Okoboji University. Either way I've heard the campus is beautiful.
