Texas Airstream Newbie
We our the proud new owners of a 1973 Overlander. So I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions as the redo has not been completed though we can and have camped in it (the first night we had it).

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new Airstream and that you camped in it the first night that you owned it.
We would love to see some photos of your Airstream.

Welcome to you and good luck on your restoration. You are at the right place for answers to questions that come up, and they will. Sure is good to have another Texan around, and fairly close to me. Maybe we'll run into each other.

Welcome to Airstreaming! Would like to extend an invitation to join up with a lot of Airstremers September 5-9 at the Texas Gulf Coast Unit of WBCCI. We are pretty close to Troup. We meet at Texas Airstream Harbor on those dates. Lots of good folks and plenty of knowledge base for your Airstream

Welcome to the forums!!! How far is Troup from Johnson City? The reason I ask is, we are having a rally/get together there the end of Sept. Would love to have you join us.

Welcome to the forums, parrothead! If you have the chance you should go to Johnson City, it's a fun crowd at that AIRForums rally. You might want to stay away from Bruce (bwoodtx) though, if you catch his virulent strain of aluminitis you'll end up buying a 2nd Airstream on your way home from the rally.

Bruce thinks his humor is disguising his seriously cronic Aluminitus.
I thought I had him cured ~ I thought I had him agreeing that he'd only keep & restore two of his newest trailers (the '55 Flying Cloud Whale Tale!!) and eventually the '54 Cruiser, and sell or trade all the rest. Well . . . Bruce may claim to be in some 12-step program, but . . maybe I should let him confess to a HUGE fall from that program . . . . .
I fear an intervention may be called for.

Thanks to all....Rockwell you are just down the road, I even work Palestine every 2 weeks.....Johnson City is about 5 hrs, we are just outside of Tyler...Got a few pics up (wife doesn't like the red so I'm sure that will change soon) and will add some more so I'll be able to look back and see before and afters....Top 3 on my to do list are the a/c, fridge and bathroom....hope the a/c and fridge can just be fine tuned as I would like to keep them oe....as for the bathroom everything is functional but 39 years old and we would like to update it....then the polish...we probably can't make a rally this year as we've done 1 1/2 vacations already and have school starting for our little parakeet (3rd grade)....but do plan on seeing us out next year....sounds like Bruce's 12 step program may be procuring 12 trailers

Parrothead - You are a new AS owner, and you have ole Bwoodtex pegged perfectly. He has a large "herd" of Airstreams and no time to use them (he works too hard).
I love E. Texas. Attended what used to be called TJC in the mid 1960's - boy does that ever seem sooo long ago. I think there is an active Airstream group in your area. Watch the Rally section and attend a rally. In fact, I think somebody up there is trying to organize a gathering now. WBCCI and AirForums people are the greatest!! Also, watch for vintage Airstream rallys. Lots of fun there!!
Best of luck with your Airstream. Post lots of photos!!

Congratulations and welcome to the forums. That is a cool looking Overlander you have. I especially like the beer bottle cap countertop! Like the others have said, go to a rally as soon as you can. The greatest people I have ever met in my life are these Airstreamers!
