So this is me
Hi y'all,
New to the forum and new to the lifestyle. Well, soon to be new to the lifestyle. I'm lookin to get my first travel trailer in about a month or so and there's just something about an Airstream. Probably not the typical buyer but who knows. I'm a 31 y/o SSG in Afghanistan with about 20 and a wake-up to go. I'm out of the Army on April Fool's Day (not sure who the joke's gonna be on but I'll be laughin' either way) and I just can't see myself doing the "normal" thing and sproutin roots somewhere just yet. Call it wanderlust or fear of commitment but my deployments have been the longest stays in a single place since I was 18. Maybe it's just what I know right now.
So I got a little money saved up and am ready for the next adventure; a vintage airstream will be my home for at least the next four years. Travel for the first year and then it's back to school on the GI Bill.
Not the briefest of intros but wanted to give you a sense of the person doing the introducing. That's what they're for, right?
Oh yeah. The username is short for The Palace Flophouse. Big Steinbeck fan and Cannery Row is one of my favorites.
So that's me. Lookin' forward to meetin you on road.
Heath

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle
Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. You've found the right place for all things Airstream.
Thank you for your service. Our #3 son just got back in October from a one year deployment to Afghanistan.

Just wanted to welcome you also, and especially to thank you for your service....Without people like you, we all wouldn't be free to own or pull our Airstreams...
Thanks,

Welcome
Again, thank you for your service. Get home Safely!
What part of the country are you from? We have a lot of spring rallies coming up. I'm sure you'd be welcome at any of them. If you're coming in through Norfolk, VA - send me a Private Message. I'll buy you a steak dinner and give you a tour of my Airstream... just to make the aluminitis flame up into active mode.
Paula

Heath,
Welcome to the Forums, and the Airstream community at large.
If you choose to do so, traveling/camping in an Airstream can be one of the best salves to what ails you, or if you have no ails, a very liberating experience.
Regardless of what vintage you choose, they are, comparatively, well built and will serve you well, compared to the alternatives.
I wish you joy and solace where ever you may travel.
Hopefully, you will be doing so in an Airstream!

all squishy inside
Wow, thank you all for the warm welcome and well-wishes. Gives me a good feeling about this whole thing.
Paula, Debbie, Sue and Ran,
Thanks for the offers. I plan on makin the rounds wherever there's something to be done or seen, so I'm sure I'll be in your neck of the woods at some point. And once there, I'd be more than happy to stop in and say Hi (no steak necessary http://www.airforums.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif).
Heath
P.S.
New to the whole forum thing, so forgive me when I jack things up. Like that emoticon, if it doesn't work right.
